Affairs/Girlfriends

He had many girlfriends out of which one of his girlfriends’ names is Jesebel. During an interview, in 2012, he said,

Yes, I have married thrice but I’m probably still looking for that perfectly understanding partner. But I’m 60 plus now, maybe that search will never end!”

Career

Before working as an actor, he was a businessman and had a shop of his own. He used to work in theaters simultaneously. In an interview, while talking about the same, he said,

I used to dabble in theatre and I had always thought that I’ll shut shop when I turn 40 and do my own thing. And although I won three international awards for my business, I did shut shop and get headlong into acting. From then on it’s been a good journey.”

He acted in various Hindi films including ‘Raees’ (2017), ‘Dhoom 2’ (2006), ‘Dil Chahta Hai (2001), and ‘Darbar’ (2020). He also appeared in the Hindi TV serials such as ‘Tum Bin Jaaoon Kahaan’ (2003), ‘Rooh’ (2004), and ‘Har Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai’ (2007). He acted in the episodic TV serial ‘C.I.D.’ (2000-2010).

Controversy

In 2009, he appeared as the celebrity guest on the TV show ‘Sach Ka Saamna’ in which made a few revelations about his personal life. He said,

It was my conscious decision to appear on the show. I knew some very embarrassing and controversial facts about my life, like my relationships, will be exposed there, but I wanted to come clean with myself and with people close to me. And yes, those questions hook me and my family up, but believe me, we are much more close and understanding towards each other now than we were before.”

He further added,

Yes, I have married thrice but I’m probably still looking for that perfectly understanding partner. But I’m 60 plus now, maybe that search will never end!”

In the show, he was asked if he had a child outside his marriage. He replied,

I had a couple of physical relationships with that lady and so he is not really sure if the child is own or not but he accepts that he has an illegitimate child. I believe in the power of truth and did not participate in the show for money; all I wanted was to speak truth.” He believes the experience was cathartic and says, “I can sum up my feelings in one line — the demon was in a cage and now I’ve released it.”

Death

On 30 October 2021, he passed away due to the complications of COVID-19. He was being treated at Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai. On his demise, his son-in-law shared an emotional post on his social media profile. He wrote,

I had completed 2 schedules of Shahid. And we were stuck. I was troubled. A non-existent career as a filmmaker was almost finished. He just came up to me and said I have a fixed deposit and it is of no use to me if you are so troubled. He wrote a cheque. Shahid was completed. That was Yusuf Husain. Not my father-in-law but a father. He was life – if life itself had to have a physical form.”

He further added,

Today he is gone. To remind all those women in heaven that they are ‘Duniya ki sabse khubsurat ladki’ and all the men that they are ‘Haseen naujwaan’. And then to end with a booming ‘love you love you love you’. Yusuf Saab I owe this new life to you. I am truly orphaned today. Life will never be the same. I will miss you terribly. My Urdu will remain broken. And yes – love you love you love you!”
