Shakhawat Ali Nobel is a Bangladeshi businessman who was arrested on 17 January 2022, for brutally murdering his wife Raima Islam Shimu, a Bangladeshi actress.

Convict of Wife’s Murder
His wife, Raima went missing in January 2022 while she was shooting for a project. When she did not return home, her brother filed her missing report in the local police station. When the local police team started the search operation of Raima, they found a sack containing pieces of Raima’s body, near the Hazratpur Bridge in Keraniganj, Bangladesh, on 17 January 2022. In further investigation, the local police found the involvement of Shakhawat Ali Nobel in Raima’s murder. Later, Ali, his driver, and four other people were detained by the local police and were arrested by the ‘Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), an elite anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of Bangladesh. In the initial investigation, the local police officials while talking to the reporters said,
Injury marks found on Raima’s body led to believe that she might have been murdered by criminals on Sunday, following which her body was dumped. Her body was then taken away in a car. We confiscated the car. The body has been sent to the Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital (SSMCH) for autopsy, and an investigation is underway.”
Later, Shakhawat Ali Nobel confessed that he murdered his wife because he was fed up with the regular dispute with his wife. While talking to the reporters, Raima’s brother, Shahidul Islam Khokon said,
Nobel is a drug addict. He often argued with my sister. I have seen blood in Nobel’s car. He was not at home from 8 am to 10 am on Monday, I assumed that he discarded the body during that time.”
On Raima’s death, Fatima Nisha (Raima’s sister), while talking to the reporters said,
I am at the police station now; Preparations are underway to file a case. After the case, I will go to Sir Salimullah Medical College Hospital to take my sister’s body. We have not been able to take a decision yet regarding the murder convicted by my sister’s husband or not. But we are talking.”
