Film
In 1983, Samrat Mukerji made his acting debut as a child artist in the film Karate. In 1996, he acted in the film Ram Aur Shyam. Samrat, in the film, was given the role of Ram.
In 1997, in the film Bhai Bhai, Samrat appeared along with the famous Bollywood villain, Shakti Kapoor. In the film, he played the role of a character named Akbar.
In 1998, he played the role of Sudhakar in the film Zanjeer. In the film, he acted alongside Aditya Pancholi.
In 1999, he played the role of Balraam in the film, Sikandar Sadak Ka.
In 1999, in the film, Sar Ankhon Par, Samrat Mukerji acted alongside the renowned Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan.
In the same year, he was offered a role in a Bengali film, Tomake Solam. Samrat, in the film, acted along with the renowned Bollywood villain, Shakti Kapoor.

In 2015, he was once again given the role of Mahisasur in the Bengali TV serial titled, Mahisasurmardini. In 2018, Samrat was offered a role in the Bengali TV show, Jayang Dehi. The show was aired on Colors Bangla in 2018. From 2020 to 2022, in the Bengali TV serial, Gangaram, Samrat Mukerji played the role of Samrat (Sammy) Kumar. The TV serial was aired on Star Jalsha, a regional Bengali channel.

In his acting career, Samrat Mukerji has been signed up for several Bollywood films, which were ultimately shelved by the producers themselves. In 1996, he was allotted a role in four Bollywood shelved films. These were Namak Halal, Ujala, Rankshetra and Humrahi. In 2002, in the film Shaheed Bhagat Singh, he was offered to play the role of the freedom fighter, Bhagat Singh. The film was shelved by the producer in 2002 itself.
