Controversies

Sandalwood Drug Scandal

In September 2020, Diganth Manchale and his wife, Aindrita Ray, were summoned by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) as their names appeared on the then-ongoing drug case. Apparently, there was a video surfaced online which had Aindrita Ray, inviting people to Bally’s Casino for their special Eid bash. Later, she issued a clarification on the news channels that she only did it for publicity, as asked by the casino’s marketing team.

A few days later, Diganth was questioned for the second time by the CCB after he was accused of deleting some texts that he had sent to a few suspected African drug peddlers. Diganth commented on this and said,

I am cooperating with the CCB. If need be, I will again appear before them for questioning in this matter.”

Vishnu’s car accident case

In 2017, the Bangalore industrialist Adikeshavulu’s grandson, Geetha Vishnu, was allegedly accused of possessing 850 grams of marijuana in Vishnu’s Mercedes-Benz, after he met with an accident that left him and five other persons injured. It was revealed that he had partied with his friends where he consumed marijuana right before the mishap took place. Some of the local news channels reported that the actors Prajwal Devaraj, Diganth Manchale, and Abishek Ambareesh were witnesses of the accident but escaped the crime scene. Diganth denied the rumours by saying that during the time of the accident, he was in Kanakpura shooting for a movie and he is nowhere associated with any drugs.
