Nishi Singh Bhadli (1974- 2022) was a popular Indian actress who mainly worked in Hindi television industry. She is known for playing comedy roles in television serials. She was battling with severe paralysis ailment since 2019 and died on 16 September 2022. According to her family, she passed away two days after her 50th birthday.

Film
Nishi Singh made her acting debut with the Hindi film ‘Monsoon Wedding’ in 2001. Monsoon Wedding was the winner of the Golden Lion Award and a Golden Globe Award nomination. In 2008, she started her own company to cast artists for Hindi films along with her colleague and cast all the child artists for the film Slumdog Millionaire.
Television
Nishi Singh appeared as Maina, the mother of Sunaina (Smita Singh) in the Hindi television show Hitler Didi in 2011, aired on Zee TV. She then worked in the serial ‘Love Express’ in 2011. Love Express dramatised a train journey of two families who tried to arrange the marriage of a couple during the journey. In 2012, she worked in the famous television show Qubool Hai, which aired on Zee TV, and in the show, she appeared as Haseena Bi.

In 2016, she was cast in the show Ishqbazz on Star Plus. She then appeared in the show “Tenali Rama” on Sony SAB in 2017.

Death
On 18 September 2022, Nishi Singh Bhadli passed away in Mumbai, India after suffering from a prolonged illness and paralytic attack, which she suffered in 2019 and 2020.
Facts/Trivia
- According to her husband, Nishi’s daughter lives with them at their Mumbai residence, and their son lives at his maternal parents’ house in Delhi. In 2020, in an interview with a media house, he talked about the financial condition of Nishi’s parents, and also disclosed that he was disowned by his family when he started working in the Indian television industry. He said,
We cannot fall back on our families, as hers isn’t financially sound and mine had disowned me when I decided to join showbiz. We have been struggling and need help.”

- On 16 September 2022, Nishi Singh Bhadli celebrated her fiftieth birthday with her husband and daughter and passed away after two days. After her death, her husband, Sanjay Singh, said in a media interview that Nishi had her favourite besan ka laddoo on her birthday and seemed very happy. He said,
The biggest irony is that we celebrated her 50th birthday the day before yesterday (September 16). Though she couldn’t talk, she seemed very happy. I requested her to eat her favourite besan ka laddoo and she did.”
In the same conversation, Sanjay Singh disclosed that in February 2019, Nishi Singh suffered a paralysis attack and again in August 2020. In May 2022, she became severely ill. He added that their daughter quit her board exams and skipped school to look after her mother, and he too rejected many job offers as he had to take care of Nishi throughout. He said with a heavy heart that he sold his house and car to meet the medical expenses of Nishi Singh. Some of his colleagues Ramesh Taurani, Gul Khan, Surbhi Chandna, and CINTAA helped them financially.
