A keen sports player during his childhood, Nupur grew up playing tennis and wanted to pursue a career in it. He was a national-level tennis player. In 2004, when he moved to Mumbai, he inclined towards filmmaking. Thereafter, he started making short films and videos which were noticed by a Marathi film director who extended a job offer as an assistant director to Nurpur. He did his schooling at Seth Dagaduram Katariya High School, Pune. He also trained at Capoeira Pune, India. Later, he attended R A Podar College Of Commerce & Economics.

Career
He had a brief stint as an assistant director and soon left the job to pursue a career in fitness and training. The manager of the gym where Nupur used to workout offered him to join as a trainer. Nupur used to roam around in Bandra handing over his business cards in fancy gyms asking them to contact him if there was a vacancy. One day he got Sushmita Sen‘s contact number following which he texted “I am a fitness trainer and I want to train you” to her. On 28 March 2008, he started working as a personal trainer for Sushmita Sen.

In 2017, he represented India at Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster: India Season 2 where he was eliminated in level 2. He has a varied experience in fitness training which includes, gym training, circuit training, functional training, parkour, martial art, capoeira, cross fit, and bodyweight training. Apart from Sushmita Sen, Nupur also trains Aamir Khan, Ira Khan, and Kiran Rao.

- Nupur Shikhare actively takes part in various marathons and has participated in events like Ironman Copenhagen 2017 and Ironman 70.3 Taiwan (his first triathlon). In 2019, he secured the 2nd runner-up position in Canthon – Cancer Awareness Run.
