Tarun Arora is an Indian actor and model who came into the limelight after playing the role of Geet’s annoying lover, Anshuman, in the Hindi film ‘Jab We met’ (2007).

Tarun Arora co-owned a North-Indian cuisine restaurant in Bangalore named Tandoori Hippie. In February 2011, he became the co-owner of a Goan-themed lounge bar “Love Shack” in Bangalore. The co-owner is his brother, Himesh Arora.

In 1999, Tarun made his Bollywood debut with the film ‘Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi’ in which he made a special appearance. In 2004, he appeared in three Hindi films Hawas, Sheen, and 19 Revolutions, which were low-budget films. In 2007, he appeared in Imtiaz Ali’s critically acclaimed film Jab We Met, where he played the role of Anshuman, the lover of Geet (played by Kareena Kapoor). In this film, his dialogue “..kyu dekhu main ganne ke khet? kya khaas baat hai ganne ke khet mein? nahi dekhne mujhe ganne ke khet!” (why should I watch sugarcane fields? what is s o special about sugarcane field? I don’t want to see sugarcane fields!”) became popular.

Tamil

In 2016, he made his Tamil debut with the film ‘Kanithan’ in which he played the role of a fake certificate scam kingpin named Thura Sarkar. He garnered appreciation for his performance in this film.

Tarun continued appearing in Tamil films like ‘Kaththi Sandai’ (2016) as Tamizhselvan’s accomplice, ‘Kanchana 3’ (2013) as minister Shankar, and ‘Dagaalty’ (2020) as Vijay Samrat.


Telugu

In 2017, Tarun made his Telugu debut with the action-drama film ‘Khaidi No. 150,’ where he played the role of the antagonist named Aggarwal.

Tarun appeared in many other Telugu films such as ‘Katamarayudu’ (2017), ‘Jaya Janaki Nayaka’ (2017), ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ (2018), ‘Arjun Suravaram’ (2019), and ‘Seetimaarr’ (2020).


Assamese

In 2011, he made his Assamese debut with the film ‘Poley Poley Urey Mon’ in which he played the role of Amit Agarwal.

In 1998, Tarun Arora was announced as the winner of Gladrags Manhunt and Mega model Contest, a unisex pageant in India.


Model


After winning the pageant, Tarun took up modelling as a career and has walked the ramp for several designers. He has also worked in several advertisement campaigns for brands including Raymond, Westside, Kwality Walls, McDowell’s whiskey, and LG.

Controversy


In 2012, Central Crime Branch raided Love Shack bar, owned by Tarun Arora. Allegedly, after being tip-off that the disco of the bar was running illegally, a case was registered at Ulsoor police station in Bangalore. The police arrested its manager and two disc jockeys.
